When Plumb Centers asked Template to conceive, design, print and manage the production of a 100 page shower brochure, all in a six week time frame, they knew that there were several logistics hurdles to overcome. One of which was the fact that the project needed to be completed over the Christmas and New Year holiday period, which in itself is inherently a difficult time to hit deadlines and supervise strategy.
However, Julie Mclean, Head of Marketing at Plumb Centers, understood through her previous experience of working with Clive Cowx, that with Template the job would get done. By working closely with individual product managers, Clive not only collated all of the information through an ongoing dialogue, he also ensured that all the relevant copy and imagery was supplied to his design studio at the correct time.
Due to this strict timescale, for some products there weren’t any photographs to accompany the text, so many of the pictures were produced using computer generated imagery. In addition 3D renders of some of the shower fittings were created by manipulating technical drawings and flat pictures to illustrate how these products would look in situ. This not only achieved an excellent portrayal of the items but was more cost effective than bespoke photography. It was through Clive’s inventiveness and tenacity to achieve a solution that resulted in 60,000 high quality brochures being delivered on time and to budget to a delighted client.
